Ethyl Butyrate

Ethyl Butylate

Ethyl butyrate occurs naturally in many fruits and is most commonly associated with the sweet smell of fresh orange juice.  It is also part of the complex chemical composition of orange essential oil, which is known to have many health benefits.
Inhalation of orange oil has been found to reduce anxiety.  In a 2014 study, subjects experienced a "feeling of comfort" that was significantly greater during inhalation of orange oil than during inhalation of fresh air. 1
Limonene, which is a monocyclic monoterpene that’s present in orange oil, is a powerful defender against oxidative stress. Since monoterpenes have been shown to be very effective chemo-preventive agents against tumor growth, orange oil could even have cancer-fighting abilities. 1
